Meet Klief Guenther

Klief Guenther

A Lifetime of Service

I have dedicated my life to service, leadership, and protecting others.

I grew up in Sidney, Nebraska, where I learned the values of hard work, accountability, and serving something greater than myself. Those values led me to join the United States Navy, where I served as an Aviation Warfare Specialist Rescue Swimmer with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 14 (HS-14) aboard the USS Independence. During my military service, I participated in Operation Vigilant Warrior and learned firsthand the importance of teamwork, discipline, preparation, and leadership under pressure.

After leaving the Navy, I began a 25-year career with the Wyoming Highway Patrol. What started as a young trooper's dream became a lifetime of service to the people of Wyoming. Throughout my career, I served as a Trooper, Lieutenant, Captain, instructor, supervisor, and commander. I was honored to serve on the Governor's Protection Detail, oversee statewide training and recruitment efforts, mentor new officers, and lead teams responsible for protecting communities across Wyoming.

Over the years, I learned that leadership is not about rank or title. Leadership is about accountability, preparation, trust, and supporting the people around you. It is about building strong teams capable of meeting challenges before they become crises.

Since 2016, my family and I have proudly called Sublette County home. I am a father, grandfather, community volunteer, member of the Sublette County Opioid Settlement Fund Committee, and currently serve as the Maintenance Supervisor at the Pinedale Aquatic Center, where I was honored to be selected as Employee of the Year.

When people ask why I am running for Sheriff, the answer is simple: service. Public service has been my life's work, and I believe my experience, leadership, and commitment to this community can continue to make a difference.

As your Sheriff, my priorities will be proactive public safety, departmental readiness, and strong community partnerships. I believe the Sheriff's Office should be prepared for both everyday challenges and critical incidents while maintaining the trust and confidence of the people it serves.

Sublette County is a special place. It is where my family lives, where my grandchildren visit, and where many of us have chosen to build our lives. I am committed to helping keep our communities safe, supporting the dedicated men and women who serve in law enforcement, and ensuring the Sheriff's Office remains professional, accountable, and prepared for the future.

I would be honored to earn your trust and your vote.
